Male Sanitary Units: Know the Signs and Symptoms of Prostate Cancer
Incontinence can affect anyone. It could be your customers or your employees. Due to embarrassment around the issue, there are many more people struggling with incontinence than we are aware of.
Lots of men live with incontinence and it is important that they have access to adequate waste disposal solutions.
We supply male sanitary bins to support men who suffer from incontinence. Anybody can experience incontinence, at any period in their life. It is common in men with prostate cancer, or who’ve had prostate surgery. With prostate cancer now being the most common type of cancer in the men in the UK, it is really important that we are providing these facilities to men.
Why Male Sanitary Bins are Important
For women, sanitary bins are not just commonplace, they are considered to be an essential.
However, this is not yet the case for men’s bathrooms.
There are many reasons that men may need to use sanitary products like incontinence pads, and it is essential that we are providing these for men too.
Lack of access to adequate sanitary disposal facilities can lead to:
- Feeling forced to carry used products home with them
- Leaving used products in the stall, leading to hygiene and sanitation issues
- Flushing products down the toilet, potentially causing blockages
- Avoiding changing products when needed, which can result in health-related problems
- Feelings of anxiety, worry, or stress about going out in public
Prostate Cancer
According to Prostate Cancer UK, 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer, making it the most common cancer in men in the UK. 48,600 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.
Knowing the signs and symptoms is essential as early detection is the key to successful treatment.
Diagnosis
Whilst the exact cause of prostate cancer is largely unknown, there are several risk factors that can increase your likelihood of developing it.
One of the most prominent risk factors is age. Prostate cancer is more common in men over 65, however it can happen when you are younger too.
It is also important, if possible, to consider your family history, as men whose father or brother have been affected by prostate cancer are at a slightly increased risk themselves.
A simple test is all it takes to check. If you have any concerns about prostate cancer, we encourage you to speak to your GP as soon as possible.
